Product Description
Using The PSSUQ and CSUQ in User Experience Research and Practice is the first book to provide a comprehensive manual for using one of the most popular standardized usability questionnaires. This book is for anyone who has used or is planning to use the Post-Study System Usability Questionnaire in usability studies or the Computer System Usability Questionnaire in field studies or surveys.
In the first half of this book, Jim Lewis, one of the questionnaires’ original developers, provides a complete history of their development, psychometric qualification, and relationship to the System Usability Scale, with sufficient detail for academic researchers. The second half of the book shifts to practical use of the questionnaires in industrial evaluation based on Jim’s decades of experience using the questionnaires at IBM, with examples drawn from real-world projects.
James R. (Jim) Lewis, PhD, has worked at IBM since 1981, with a primary focus on the design and evaluation of user interfaces (graphical, spoken, mobile). He is a Certified Human Factors Professional with a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology (Psycholinguistics) and M.A. in Engineering Psychology (minor in applied statistics). Jim has published influential papers on the assessment of perceived usability and sample size estimation for usability studies. He has worked for the past two decades as a consultant in all areas of speech system usability. Before
that, he was the lead user experience designer for a number of mobile
products, including the product now widely regarded as the first smart
phone, the Simon.
Jim’s books include Practical Speech User Interface Design (2011) and(with Jeff Sauro) Quantifying the User Experience: Practical Statistics for User Research (2012/2016), and he has published over 100 book chapters, journal articles, and conference papers. He is the co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Usability Studies, is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction, and is past-President of the Association for Voice Interaction Design.
